This 3-day Technical Safety BC–accredited course is ideal for anyone who will be operating an exterior hoist or construction elevator. It combines classroom learning with hands-on operation to ensure operators are safe, confident, and compliant with BC regulations.
What You’ll Learn
- Hoist Operation & Safety Principles
- Learn applicable laws and regulations, how to complete daily operational checks, and essential do’s and don’ts on the job.
- Hands-On Equipment Training
- Operate real hoist equipment under instructor supervision. Practice correct safety procedures while wearing full PPE.
Exams & Certification
Review key course content, then complete both a practical hoist operation exam and a written multiple-choice test. Successful students receive a declaration of completion, meeting the 21-hour training requirement for Technical Safety BC certification eligibility.
Duration: 3 days, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM (with a 30-minute lunch break)
Certification: Students must apply separately for the Technical Safety BC exam (~$164 fee not included).
License Validity: 1 year, renewable through Technical Safety BC.
