1. Immigration Introduction

Part of the value employees have through Calmwater (“the Company”) is reasonable assistance with immigration processes. We have partnered with Arana Immigration Canada Ltd., who is an expert in the field and are Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants, licensed through The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants.

The Company approves supporting employees on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual circumstances of the employee and business needs. Please note that we do not do LMIA’s (Labour Market Impact Assessment) processes for employees – no exceptions. Recent policy changes in Canada have led to the LMIA track changing. Processing times have increased significantly.

Arana Immigration Canada Ltd., based in Vancouver, BC, is an independent company from Calmwater. They support our employees by answering questions about their immigration status and assessing their potential eligibility for immigration programs, with the exception of LMIA applications and Refugee/Asylum claims.

From time to time, Arana Immigration Canada Ltd. will contact you directly to request a copy of your permit and/or proof of your status in Canada, or to get an update on your soon-to-expire work permit.

• Does Calmwater support LMIA’s?

Unfortunately not. Recent policy changes in Canada has changed the LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) process to take significantly more time to process.

 

• What is the first step?

Please book your initial consultation with Arana Immigration Canada Ltd. through this LINK. They will gather the information needed to advise you on your options. Please keep in mind that not all employees are eligible for immigration processes. If there is a process you may qualify for, Arana Immigration Canada Ltd. will contact us. The Company will decide whether we can support employees on a case-by-case basis dependent on the likelihood of success of the application, other individual considerations and company needs.

 

• What processes does the Company typically support?

We support employees to obtain an LMIA-exempt work permit through the free trade agreements available with their country of residence. We can also provide confirmation of employment documentation for any immigration processes you might be involved in to confirm start date, wage, title, job duties and so on.

 

4. What is the cost?

The cost for initial 15-minute consultations with Arana Immigration Canada Ltd. is covered by the Company. The Company also covers the portal submission fees for approved processes.

Arana provides preferential pricing on their services to our employees. Here is the breakdown:
