Horizon Construction Workforce is a leading construction workforce supplier based in the thriving city of Calgary, Alberta.

Horizon Construction is currently seeking Deficiency Technicians/Detailers who will be ensuring new homes are free of deficiencies and ready for homeowners to move in. The right candidate should have a strong construction background and be comfortable dealing with a variety of different tasks.


Core Duties

  • Drywall: Sanding, patching, pinhole repairs, plug, California, and butterfly patching.
  • Painting: Cutting in, taping, doors & trim, rolling, back-rolling.
  • Silicone/Caulking: Product identification and application.
  • Mechanical: Hardware installation (handles, fixtures), interior and exterior door hardware (locksets, hinges), cabinet door adjustments, and door hanging including bifolds.
  • Appliances: Trim kit installation.
  • Inspections: Unit inspections, testing, and tagging (doors, lighting, appliances).
  • Leadership: Supervising a team when required.

Other Potential Specialty Duties:

  • Paint spraying
  • Door frame and trim adjustments
  • Panel-ready appliance installation
  • Window adjustments and repairs
  • Operating scissor lifts and boom lifts
  • Countertop and cabinet surface repairs (e.g., Mohawk)
  • Bathtub and enamel surface repairs (e.g., Tub Doctor)

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of deficiency carpentry experience.
  • Must be able to commit to full-time employment.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage priorities effectively.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must own a complete set of tools and have reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of paint-related chemicals (solvents, thinners, cleaners).
  • Must own and maintain appropriate PPE.
